As part of the preparation for taking my boat down the coast (3 hours drive) I replaced the hubs on the boat trailer.
The trailer had a nice overhaul almost a year ago. I made new brackets to stand on with checkerplating on it for launching and pulling in the baot. The hubs were really the last thing left to do on the trailer after doing quite a lot of welding/fixing.
- old hub cap
- removing wheel
- the old castle nut with plenty of old grease on it
- the old bearings
- more old bearings (inside hub)
- new bearings ready to be installed
- knocking the new bearings in place. They are a matched pair to the inside groove thing (not sure of technical name). So these need to be knocked in carefully
- All in place. Ready for wheel to be put back on.
